THEFT OF GOVERNMENT VEHICLES
- Over the past few months several government owned vehicles have been stolen from various Departments and merchant premises by people posing as Government or Wesbank First Auto Officials.
- To prevent any further loss of government vehicles the following procedures must be adhered to:
i)
Government owned vehicles may only be sent to Merchants for repairs after arrangements have been made with Wesbank First Auto by the Directorate's Transport Control Component.ii)
Officials dealing with transport matters or having access to information on transport matters are not permitted to provide any information an transport matters to any person or Institution outside this Department other than Wesbank First Auto or Department of Transport through the normal channels of communication.iii)
First Auto Cards may not be left with Merchants or handed to any person who is not authorised by this Department to use the government owned vehicle.
iv)
Director's approval must be obtained prior to the release of government owned vehicle to any person who claims to have been authorised to collect government owned vehicle by either Wesbank First Auto or Department of Transport.
