PREFACE
These Production Guidelines are structured to provide the land-user with a detailed understanding of veld management principles to ensure acceptable livestock production whilst maintaining the productivity of the veld. The Guidelines are divided into two main sections. Section A gives a step by step approach to planning a management programme for veld, incorporating the requirements of the animals and of the resource base. Section B provides a detailed description of the vege-tation and livestock production potential of each of the Bioresource Groups of KwaZulu-Natal. Section B also provides detailed veld management guidelines to complement the veld management planning guidelines presented in Section A.
