For those of you who celebrate Easter , we hope
you had a wonderful holiday and feel Spiritually uplifted and
refreshed. To those students who went home, we also hope you had a
good break, traveled safely and are back ready to face another term of
hard work. (Don’t despair your librarians are here to assist you
wherever possible.)
The New Millenium certainly is forging ahead at
an alarming rate. It is hard to believe that it is May already May,
2000. We Librarians are delighted at the rate at which our very
valuable pamphlet collection is being entered on the Urica System
which will ultimately make for far easier access to the information
contained therein. Our special thanks goes to Christopher Merret of
Natal University Library,
Pietermaritzburg, for arranging
for some of his staff to assist us with this inputting. The more ‘in-putters’
there are the sooner the job will be complete and we can start
searching on Urica, which will be a great help to students and staff
alike.
The Hydroponics and Tunnel Open
Day held in the Main Auditorium on the 19th April, 2000 resulted in a
huge increase in the demand for our rather scant selection of
Hydroponics books and also those related to Greenhouses and Tunnel
Growing. It is always good to feel that one is able to be of service
to the wider community.
Mrs. Howe was very grateful to be allowed to
attend the Marketing and Exports Short course which was organized, and
very ably run, by Anton Scheepers and Gareth Muller. What an
incredible world of Trade and Industry there is out there for our
Farmers to capitalize on.
