Farmer Support and Development

Purpose

• To provide extension, input support and training to farmers, with a special emphasis on developing emerging farmers in communal areas and supporting those benefiting from the Land Reform Programme. 

• To co-ordinate and implement various food security projects in partnership with sister departments, municipalities and donor agencies. 

• To facilitate institutional building and creation of micro-enterprises, prioritizing vulnerable groups, especially youth, women and disabled groups. 

• To be a catalyst in the promotion of investments, partnerships, cooperatives, marketing and agribusiness development and intergovernmental cooperation in the agriculture and environment sectors to champion and support agrarian development.
